AIP is a staged process
Stage 1: Elimination
This is where you eliminate all of the common irritants from your food choices and eat recommended gut healing whole nutrient dense foods. For example adding in Kombucha and other fermented foods while removing grains and nightshades. This stage tends to be a 60-90 days but is bio-individual and really depends on how your body reacts and begins to heal.
Stage 2: Reintroduction
This stage is where patience and some extra help can be super beneficial. It is important when you begin this phase that you begin with the least irritating foods and work your way up in a very slow and precise manner. This is where listening to your body and having a good baseline from the Elimination Stage is very important.
Stage 3: Maintenance
The Maintenance and Elimination phase sometimes are intermingled. As you enter the Maintenance phase you may still be doing occasional introductions but in general you feel pretty solid in your food choices and how your body reacts to a variety of foods.
